All TTc banking transactions are US$ denominated, however, recently we have been informed by some of our members that those providing us with US based credit cards have been charged a foreign currency transaction charge. The banks have reasoned that as our credit card terminal is based outside of the United States, they should charge this transaction charge. In the majority of cases the affected members have been able to get these charges removed, but we do recommend that you consider using or obtaining a card from a bank that does not make these charges in the first place to ensure that you do not receive this additional charge. If you are not from the United States, there are credit card companies in other countries who also do not charge foreign currency transaction charges, and obtaining one of these could save you 2-3% on all your transactions you may make overseas.
